Viewers have hailed the BBC's new mystery drama 'I, Jack Wright' as 'faultless' and 'a cut above the rest,' with many bingeing the entire six-part series shortly after its debut on BBC One. The series, written by Chris Lang of 'Unforgotten' fame, originally premiered on U&Alibi in April 2025 before being acquired by the BBC.
Binge-Watching Frenzy
The first episode aired on Sunday, July 12, followed by a second episode on Monday, July 13. However, many viewers had already watched the entire series on BBC iPlayer before the second episode aired. One fan posted on X: 'Already binged this. Simm is excellent, as are the rest of the cast.' Another added: 'We binged the lot and loved it all! Such messy lives, red herrings galore and blind endings!'
Star-Studded Cast
The ensemble cast includes John Simm, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Gemma Jones, Zoë Tapper, Daniel Rigby, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Harry Lloyd, Liz Kingsman, Percelle Ascott, and Niamh Cusack. The official synopsis describes the drama as a 'propulsive whodunnit' centered on the apparent suicide of wealthy businessman Jack Wright, whose family members clash over his estate while a detective uncovers dark secrets.
Critical and Audience Acclaim
Sue Deeks, Head of Scripted Pre-buy Acquisitions at the BBC, called the series 'a terrific family thriller... pure entertainment.' Executive Producer Polly Williams added: 'Dysfunctional families are endlessly fascinating, and in I, Jack Wright, Chris has created an unforgettable crew.' Season two is anticipated to air on BBC One.
