Matt Tebbutt, host of BBC's Saturday Kitchen, was forced to apologise on-air after mistakenly referring to a guest's charity event as the 'Great British Bake' instead of the 'Great Irish Bake'. The blunder occurred during the latest episode when Tebbutt asked chef Donal Skehan about his upcoming fundraiser.
Skehan quickly corrected the host, prompting Tebbutt to say 'sorry, sorry'. Skehan explained that the event raises funds for a children's hospital in Ireland and is a charity he participates in annually. Despite the mistake, viewers were more focused on Skehan's enthusiastic demeanour, with some taking to social media to ask him to 'pipe down'.
One viewer wrote on X: 'I think we're all glad that Donal was first on. Now sit at the table and be quiet.' Another commented: 'Good God my ears are bleeding after that. Pipe down Donal!' A third added: 'Did you know that Donal used to live in L.A.? We do now, as he won't stop banging on about it.'
Skehan, a regular on ITV's This Morning, has defended the show amid recent drama, stating that all hosts have been lovely to work with. He now lives in Ireland after a stint in Los Angeles, making travel to London easier for his television commitments.
