BBC Morning Live Cut Short as Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton Announce Schedule Change

BBC Morning Live was unexpectedly cut short on Wednesday, July 17, as hosts Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton informed viewers of a schedule shake-up. The programme, which typically runs from 9:30am to 10:45am on weekdays, ended at 10:30am instead.

The change was made to accommodate live coverage of the State Opening of Parliament, where King Charles will outline the new government's agenda. The BBC has been adjusting its schedule to include major events such as the Euros 2024, Wimbledon, and the General Election.

Helen Skelton explained the reduced runtime at the start of the episode, noting that the show would feature a smaller panel of experts. She said: 'It's a shorter show today because it is the State Opening of Parliament, the King will lay out the new government's plans.' Gethin Jones added: 'You'll see it on BBC One live after us this morning.'
