The new BBC crime drama 'Mint', described as a 'gangster romance', was filmed in Scotland, primarily in Glasgow and Grangemouth. The series follows Shannon, daughter of a crime dynasty leader, as she falls for rival gang member Arran, echoing a Romeo and Juliet-style narrative.
Grangemouth's industrial landscape features prominently, serving as the backdrop for the fictional 'Inchyra Park' railway station where the romantic leads first meet. Specific filming locations include Fintry Road and Tummel Place.
Writer, director and creator Charlotte Regan explained her choice of Scotland: 'I love it and I'd go most summers when I was a kid. I did a show there a few years ago and I just love the crew in Scotland. You feel like everyone's very much a collaborative part of the show.' She added that in Grangemouth, where filming is rare, the community was 'super welcoming'.
