BBC fans slam 'biased' Wimbledon coverage: 'Totally unprofessional!'
BBC fans slam 'biased' Wimbledon coverage

BBC viewers tuning in to watch the Wimbledon tennis tournament were left outraged over what they described as "biased" coverage during the women's semi-final on day 11. Sports presenter Clare Balding was on air from the All England Club as Karolína Muchová faced Coco Gauff, but fans felt the BBC team clearly favored one player.

Viewers Accuse BBC of Favoritism

Neither Muchová nor Gauff had reached this stage at Wimbledon before. However, Gauff has previously won Grand Slam titles, including the 2023 US Open and the 2025 French Open. This history may have influenced commentary, according to disgruntled fans.

One infuriated viewer posted on X/Twitter: "#Wimbledon26 F*** the BBC, absolute rats. Obviously wanting Gauff to win! I hope you do Karolína Muchová a monologue for the final. Like you did for Gauff before this match. Sort your commentators out as well. They were licking Gauff's a*** from start to finish #Wimbledon."

Another echoed: "These #Wimbledon commentators on the #BBC are so biased towards Gauff." A third wrote: "#BBC #Wimbledon The commentating for the woman's semi final was shocking. Totally unprofessional and biased towards Coco Gauff. (Claire Balding can do no wrong however)."

Calls for Commentator-Free Feed

One fan demanded: "@BBCSport I'm getting sick to the back teeth with BBC commentators totally impartial blatantly supporting gauff in the #wimbledon semi. Why can't you provide a commentator free feed. Seriously not hard."

The backlash comes amid other Wimbledon-related concerns. On the previous day, Queen Consort Camilla appeared in the Royal Box but seemed to struggle with the heat. Fans noted she looked "wilting" as she sat in direct sunlight without shade or a hat during the British heatwave. She used a small fan for relief but still appeared uncomfortable. One X user commented: "The excitement and heat are going to kill Queen Cam. She's wilting, poor thing. #Wimbledon." Another added: "Queen Camilla is roasting. Get her a drink of water and a large hat. #Wimbledon."
