My Family Cast: Where Are They Now?

With Kris Marshall reportedly set to take over from Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who, we look back at the transformations of the My Family cast. The BBC sitcom ran for 12 years, producing over 120 episodes and becoming one of the most-watched shows of the 2000s.

Kris Marshall, who played Nick Harper, left the show in 2005 but returned for guest appearances. He gained fame as Colin in Love Actually and later starred as DI Humphrey Goodman in Death in Paradise from 2014. He left the series in February 2017 to spend more time with his family, though sources suggest he will become the new Doctor Who.

Gabriel Thompson, who played Michael Harper, took a break from acting in 2015 to study philosophy at King's College London, aiming to become a human rights barrister. He had been tipped to play Harry Potter before losing the role to Daniel Radcliffe.

Daniela Denby-Ashe, who played Janey Harper, continued acting after the show ended. She appeared in Torchwood and Midsomer Murders before a long stint as Lorraine Donnegan in Waterloo Road from 2009 to 2013. She later joined Silent Witness in 2016 and is currently filming Heidi: Queen of the Mountain.
