The Repair Shop: Beyond the Barn airs its final episode on Wednesday, 21 October, and the BBC has confirmed that Celebrity Race Across The World will take its place from 8pm on Wednesday, 28 October.
Final episode features emotional repairs
The eight-part spin-off series has followed the success of The Repair Shop, with experts restoring beloved items from guests across the country and discovering what happened after the special items were brought back to life. In emotional scenes filmed at the guests' homes, the experts visit to see how reviving their precious items has impacted their lives, with plenty of tears along the way.
The final show features Pernilla de Bellis from Glasgow, who brings her family's 1869 edition of Dante's Divine Comedy, once owned by her great-great-great-grandfather Giuseppe Fermini and passed down to her grandmother, who died during the pandemic.
Other guests in the finale
Mikey Akers from Coventry, accompanied by his mum Louisa, received the Pride of Birmingham award aged 16 for raising awareness of verbal dyspraxia, a neurological speech disorder he has lived with since childhood. His poem I Am the Boy became the foundation of his advocacy. Years later, Louisa accidentally knocked the award from a shelf, shattering the angel statuette.
Justina Sebag-Montefiore from Cornwall brings her grandfather Michael's handmade tsymbaly, a Ukrainian stringed instrument. Michael grew up in the Carpathian Mountains before being taken to a work camp in Germany during World War II, and settled in England after liberation, building a new tsymbaly using postwar materials as he could not bring his original instrument.
Arcade expert Geoff Harvey receives a vintage fruit machine from Maxine Armitage and her daughter Ella. The machine belonged to Maxine's late husband Ian, who died in 2018. Ian had kept the machine partly because the manufacturer's initials, IA Limited, matched his own.
Celebrity Race Across The World line-up
The new series of Celebrity Race Across The World stars Junior and Princess, children of Katie Price and Peter Andre, alongside Ella Eyre and her childhood friend Nana, sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling and his son Matt, and singer Sam Ryder with his best friend and tour manager Kaz.
The famous faces will embark on a 7,500km adventure, leaving behind smartphones, credit cards and home comforts as they rely on a small budget and their own adventure skills. The BBC teased: "Leaving luxury behind them, these household names will be tested; emotions will run high, and relationships will be transformed on an adventure as challenging as it is rewarding."
The teams will rely on their own resourcefulness, local transport, and the kindness of strangers, equipped with only a map and a budget of £26 per person a day. They will set off from Kuching in the Malaysian state of Sarawak in North West Borneo, travelling through the island's vast wilderness and jungles to reach five checkpoints across three countries and two continents, hoping to reach the finish line in Melbourne, Australia.
Viewers previously shared their excitement for the show, which was won last year by Roman Kemp and sister Harleymoon. As the trailer was released, one person wrote: "Cannot wait!! What a cast." Another said: "Eek so excited!!" Celebrity Race Across The World launches from 8pm on Wednesday, 28 October on BBC One and iPlayer.
