BBC Breakfast Host Forced to Intervene as Carol Kirkwood's Mic Fails Live

BBC Breakfast faced technical difficulties during Wednesday's live broadcast when weather presenter Carol Kirkwood's microphone malfunctioned. Hosts Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell were discussing the day's top stories before crossing to Kirkwood for the forecast.

As Kirkwood began speaking, her microphone became inaudible, prompting Jon Kay to step in. He explained, 'Carol, I'm sorry, we've got a little bit of interference on Carol's microphone there. We'll sort that out and we'll get back to her very soon.' He joked that 'gremlins' might be to blame, possibly due to the hot weather.

The glitch was quickly resolved, and Kay later reintroduced Kirkwood, saying, 'We don't mind not hearing you when the weather is bad! But when the weather is good we want to hear every word.' Kirkwood then delivered the forecast, noting peak temperatures of 33°C near Yorkshire.

Earlier in the week, Kirkwood surprised her co-stars by revealing her teenage jobs, which included working as a housemaid, waitress, receptionist, and even a postwoman. Kay was visibly stunned, asking, 'A post woman?! You didn't used to predict the weather for your neighbours?' Kirkwood replied that the morning rounds made her hungry from the smell of breakfast cooking.
