DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) has found Baby Tate in Emmerdale as part of her revenge plot against Kim Tate (Claire King). Thea has come to believe that biological mother Kim and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) are planning to sell Baby Tate.
There is little evidence to support her theory, but Thea thinks Kim is giving away another baby because that is what happened after she herself was born. The resentment Thea feels toward Kim is clouding her judgment, as Kim and Graham are actually hiding Baby Tate to prevent Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) from discovering they went against his wishes to have his son adopted.
Thea's Investigation Intensifies
Earlier this week, Thea arranged for a social worker to approach Kim with the claim that Baby Tate was being illegally adopted. Kim explained the reality to the social worker, who left satisfied that she had not been lied to. Due to confidentiality, the social worker refused to tell Thea where Baby Tate was, which annoyed her greatly.
Forced to do her own digging, Thea obtained some texts between Kim and Graham and believed these were proof that Baby Tate was about to be sold. After locating the cottage, she went there and loomed outside, staring through a window instead of knocking on the door.
Kidnapping and Confrontation
In upcoming episodes, Kim and Graham face a new nightmare when it becomes clear that Baby Tate has been kidnapped. The kidnapper makes themselves known by sending ransom demands via a tablet and putting family photos in the cottage.
Graham complies with the kidnapper's demands and heads to meet them. But then Kim realizes Thea was gunning for her after the crash that killed Dawn (Olivia Bromley). Thea had wanted Kim sent down, but recently flipped into being helpful, preventing Kim from being arrested for dangerous driving.
Kim knows Thea is the kidnapper and pressures her to confess. Thea snaps, leaving Kim fearful for her life. As Thea goes to flee, she grabs a knife in self-defence and stabs Thea.
