Richard Ayoade, known for his roles in The IT Crowd and Last One Laughing, has joined the ensemble cast of the hit murder mystery series Only Murders in the Building for its sixth season. The announcement was made just hours after reports emerged that Ayoade was involved in a car crash in southeast London.
Star-Studded Cast
According to Deadline, Ayoade is among several high-profile British stars joining the Disney+ series, which stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. The sixth season will be set in London and features homegrown talent including David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, and Nicola Coughlan.
Additional cast members include Jim Broadbent, Adrian Lukis, and Kathryn Hunter. Previously confirmed stars include Simone Ashley, Jennifer Saunders, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, and many more.
Car Crash Incident
On Saturday, 13th June, Ayoade was reportedly involved in a road collision in East Dulwich. Witnesses claimed a Renault was speeding and struck a woman before hitting Ayoade's Mercedes SUV, causing significant damage. The actor was seen clutching his neck as he exited his vehicle and spoke with police.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed: "We treated two women at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre."
Production for season six is currently underway in the UK, with no release date announced yet.
