An axed Strictly Come Dancing star is reportedly in advanced talks to join the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova, who was let go from the BBC show earlier this year, has emerged as a top contender for the ITV jungle reality programme.
Nadiya's Exit from Strictly
Nadiya was among five professional dancers who departed Strictly this year, alongside Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, and Michelle Tsiakkas. Despite her exit, it appears she may soon return to television screens in a different capacity.
According to a source quoted by The Sun, Nadiya has long been on the radar for I'm A Celebrity but was previously unable to participate due to her Strictly commitments. Now that she is a free agent, offers have been flooding in. The source stated: "Nadiya has always been on the radar but has been unable to take part because of her commitment to Strictly. Now she’s a free agent, the offers have been coming in thick and fast. She’s had a number of chats about doing the jungle. Bosses are so impressed with her it’s even been suggested she turns down other shows."
Nadiya's Statement on Leaving Strictly
In a heartfelt statement announcing her departure after nine years, Nadiya expressed gratitude for her time on the show. She said: "After nine wonderful years, this part of my journey with Strictly Come Dancing is evolving. There is something truly special about being part of a programme that plays such a big part in so many people’s lives and I want to thank all those who have sent beautiful messages over the last few weeks and those who have voted, shouted, supported, celebrated and cheered during every series."
She also acknowledged the people who supported her journey: "I also want to take a moment to appreciate all those who have helped me along the way: my partners, my fellow professionals, the judges and brilliant people behind the scenes. I joined the show as an athlete and a double world champion."
Nadiya added: "Along the way I have learned so much about myself and other people. I have grown, not only professionally, but personally and creatively. Strictly has allowed me to discover new sides of myself, develop new skills, and evolve as an artist in ways I will always be grateful for."
She emphasised that this is not the end of her association with Strictly: "I look forward to being part of the Strictly world for many years to come in ways I am beginning to explore. I’ve changed a lot since I first stepped onto that dance floor, not just as a performer, but as a person and I can honestly say I’ve never felt more like myself. I’m excited to have time to focus on new projects, and to spend more precious time with my beautiful daughter. Life feels full of possibilities."
With five new professional dancers joining Strictly to replace the departing stars, Nadiya's potential appearance on I'm A Celebrity could mark an exciting new chapter in her television career.
