Former MasterChef judge George Calombaris, 43, has shared a throwback photo from his high school days, surprising fans with his full head of hair. The image, posted on Instagram on Thursday, shows him at age 13 in his school uniform at Mazenod College in Mulgrave, Victoria.
Fans were shocked by his youthful appearance, with one commenting: 'Look at all that hair. It did exist at one point.' The throwback comes as Calombaris rebuilds his career after his hospitality company, Made Establishment, went into liquidation in 2020, leaving him to repay $7.8 million in unpaid wages to former staff.
Following a series of scandals, including an assault charge, Calombaris relocated to Arthurs Seat in Victoria's Mornington Peninsula in March 2020. He has since taken on a new role as culinary director at Hotel Sorrento, a boutique hotel owned by the Pitt family, thanks to a connection made through friend Eddie McGuire.
Calombaris told The Herald Sun: 'I was out walking with Eddie McGuire, and he was in my ear about getting back into work. He said, "enough is enough, time has passed, we want the chef back."' He added that he is enjoying the new role, even learning to pour a beer.
