Coronation Street Spoilers: Audrey Roberts Update Leaves Fans Heartbroken
Audrey Roberts Update: Fans Heartbroken Over Corrie Spoilers

Coronation Street spoilers for next week have confirmed a major update on Audrey Roberts, who has been absent from the cobbles for months. The character, played by Sue Nicholls, is currently abroad in France with her daughter Gail (Helen Worth), and a return to Weatherfield appears unlikely in the near future.

Audrey's Absence Continues

In Monday's episode (July 13), the Platt family films a birthday message for Audrey, only for the police to arrive and arrest Sarah under suspicion of killing Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). This update confirms that Audrey is still in France, leaving fans gutted as they had hoped for her return.

Audrey first appeared on Coronation Street in 1979 as the mother of Gail. Over the decades, viewers have followed her through marriages, heartbreaks, and family drama, including her marriage to Alf Roberts (Bryan Mosley) in 1985 and his death in 1999. She has also become a great-grandmother to Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and worked alongside grandson David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) in her salon.

A Dramatic Love Life

After Alf's death, Audrey had a romance with butcher Fred Elliott (John Savident) and later got engaged to former con man Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers). Lewis changed his ways to marry Audrey before dying suddenly in 2019. Her recent absence has sparked concern among fans, who are eager to see her back on screen.

Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey, has a long TV career beyond Coronation Street. She released a song called "Where Will You Be?" in 1968, which reached number 17 in the UK Music Charts, and sang in a cabaret club in Vienna. She also starred in The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin (1976-1979) and as Nadia Popov in Rentaghost (1981-1984).

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
