The finalists for this year's series of The Apprentice have now been officially confirmed, following a dramatic episode last week that saw three candidates fired from the competition. As fans eagerly await the announcement of Lord Alan Sugar's next business partner, one eliminated contestant has spoken out about a scene that never made it to air.
Lawrence Rosenberg Addresses Missing Taxi Interview
Lawrence Rosenberg, who narrowly missed securing a place in the final alongside Pascha Myhill and Karishma Vijay, was fired after the intense interview rounds. He was dismissed in the boardroom alongside fellow candidates Priyesh Bathia and Dan Miller. However, viewers quickly noted that only Dan Miller's traditional exit interview in the taxi was broadcast.
Taking to Instagram to address the omission, Rosenberg shared his candid thoughts on the matter. He explained the practical constraints of the show, stating, "Listen, it's an hour-long show, there's a lot that needs to be fit in and having three taxi scenes, because Priyesh's wasn't shown as well, was quite possible."
'I'm So Gutted They Cut My Favourite Bit'
Rosenberg revealed that his reaction to being fired was unexpectedly positive. "Now, when I was fired, I stood up with the hugest smile on my face, and you can probably see that as I'm about to get fired, I'm smiling. I knew it was coming, I obviously knew it was coming and I had this massive smile on my face," he recounted.
He expressed particular disappointment that a key moment was edited out. "I'm so gutted they cut my favourite bit in the show. I said, 'Thank you for the opportunity, but I can't wait to get back to my wife and my family.' I was so excited in that moment, this weight just came off my shoulders. I was like, 'I'm going home', it had been eight weeks."
The former candidate emphasised the personal significance of his return, having only been married for six months before entering the competition. "Eight weeks! I hadn't seen my wife, I hadn't seen my family, I hadn't seen my friends. Obviously, I made new friends on the show, but that's eight weeks, that is ridiculous," he added.
A Positive Exit Overshadowed by Editing
Rosenberg described the immediate aftermath of his firing, where a welfare team member checked on his wellbeing. "I walk out of the boardroom and there's a member from the welfare team waiting there and they're like, 'Are you ok?'. I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm Buzzing!'" he recalled.
He further explained that during his taxi ride, producers repeatedly asked if he was 'gutted' about being eliminated so close to the final. However, Rosenberg maintained that he was perfectly fine and thrilled about reuniting with his wife that same evening.
Reflecting on the overall experience, Rosenberg concluded, "That's the story, I had an amazing time. I just don't think they wanted my taxi ride to be that positive. It was a shame they cut my bit when I got fired, but never mind, it happens. I had an amazing experience on the show, and nothing will ever take that away from me."
The Apprentice final, where either Pascha Myhill or Karishma Vijay will secure a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar, airs this week. All episodes remain available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
