Amandaland, the BBC's number one comedy of 2025, is set to return for a special Red Nose Day sketch featuring a host of famous Amandas and radio DJ Sara Cox. The sketch, titled 'Amandas-land', will air as part of Comic Relief: Funny for Money on BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and the official BBC YouTube channel.
In the exclusive sketch, Amanda (Lucy Punch) and Anne (Philippa Dunne) are invited to BBC Broadcasting House for a live radio interview with Sara Cox. Chaos ensues when they unexpectedly encounter some of TV's most legendary Amandas, including Amanda Holden, Amanda Lamb, Amanda Barrie, Amanda Byram, and Amanda Collier. Lydia West plays Sara Cox's overwhelmed radio producer, and Lucia Keskin plays the production runner.
The sketch promises mix-ups, misunderstandings, and classic slapstick humour. A behind-the-scenes look at the filming will be featured on The One Show on Thursday 19 March at 7pm on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Comic Relief: Funny for Money will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK in Salford on Friday 20 March from 7pm on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, and for the first time, live streamed simultaneously on the official BBC YouTube channel. The money raised will help provide food, shelter, and safety for those in need.
Philippa Dunne, who plays Anne, said: 'It's a great honour to be asked. Doing a sketch for Comic Relief is pretty iconic, so that's a big deal.' Sara Cox added: 'I can't quite believe I'm involved in this Amandaland sketch for Comic Relief. I am a massive, massive fan of Amandaland. We watch it religiously in our house.'
