All Creatures Great and Small season 6: release date, cast and episodes

The heartwarming family drama All Creatures Great and Small is set to return to Channel 5 for a sixth season, premiering on Thursday, 25 September at 9pm. Episodes will air weekly on Thursdays, with the series comprising six episodes, consistent with previous seasons.

Set in May 1945, the upcoming season will feature all the beloved characters along with several guest stars. As Europe celebrates victory, peace finally seems within reach, yet James remains preoccupied balancing his veterinary duties with a bustling family life. Meanwhile, Mrs Hall tirelessly strives to reunite everyone and restore tranquillity at the surgery.

All the main stars are returning, including Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall, Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot, Tony Pitts as Richard Alderson, and Imogen Clawson as Jenny Alderson. New cast members include Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson, The Dead of Winter's Gaia Wise, The Brutalist's Jonathan Hyde, Waterloo Road's Philip Martin Brown, and The Feud's Chris Gascoyne.

The series synopsis reveals: "Helen's enjoying time with young Jimmy and Rosie but has big changes afoot at Heston to contend with. Tristan returns from several years at war and will have to re-adjust to life back home in Darrowby. We watch as our characters re-connect with each other and find their renewed purpose, looking to a brighter future as the world around them starts to breathe again."

The trailer, unveiled on 11 September, features narration by Anna Madeley and shows James with his son Jimmy, who has grown beyond the toddler stage. In another scene, Siegfried appears distressed as he chases a runaway goat, while James advises that modifications are necessary at the surgery to keep up with technology and demand.

The upcoming season will be broadcast on Channel 5, and viewers can catch up via My5.
