Fans of the Channel 5 period drama All Creatures Great and Small have expressed devastation after learning that the next episode will be the series finale. The show, which follows Yorkshire vet James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph), returned for its sixth run in September and has captivated viewers with storylines including a potential romance between Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) and Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West).
The official X account of the show posted: "It’s hard to believe how quickly this series has flown by. Join us for the All Creatures Great and Small Series Finale this Thursday at 9pm on Channel 5." Fans reacted with dismay, with one saying "Too soon" and another asking, "Sorry that can’t be right?! You must have a few extra episodes up your sleeves? Surely?!"
Many viewers expressed a desire for longer seasons, with one pleading: "Not enough episodes, we need more!!" Another urged: "Six is too short, eight for next series please." Despite the short run, fans praised the series as "an absolute joy" and "the best series yet, truly outstanding."
The series finale airs on Thursday 30 October at 9pm on Channel 5.
