Alison Hammond has revealed that she has put on 2kg during the current series of The Great British Bake Off, and she is pointing the finger at judge Paul Hollywood. The presenter, who has previously lost over 13 stone, admitted that she cannot resist trying the bakes when Hollywood awards one of his coveted handshakes.
Speaking to The Guardian, Hammond said: 'I tried to hold back but I still put on 2kg this series. When I see a handshake, I've got to try it. I always taste the winning technical and best showstopper.' She described Hollywood as 'dead stingy' with his handshakes this year, adding that he hasn't given her one 'in real life' and is 'funny about them'.
Hammond, who co-hosts the show with Noel Fielding, also discussed her fitness regime, admitting she had not been to the gym for a while. 'I hadn't been to the gym for ages but I went back yesterday and, babes, I think I pulled a muscle. I was like, I'm getting too old for this,' she said.
The presenter has been open about her weight loss journey, which began after a pre-diabetic diagnosis. She has previously stated that she lost weight through moderation rather than restrictive diets, and has denied using weight loss jabs, though she did not rule them out entirely. 'Would you rather me die from being obese?' she asked.
