Alec Baldwin has voiced the character Lucy in a new Peanuts special, marking a return to the beloved franchise. The 67-year-old actor spoke at San Diego's Comic-Con International, where he participated in a panel celebrating 75 years of Charles Schulz's comic strip.
Baldwin reflected on the past year since his involuntary manslaughter trial in New Mexico was dismissed in July 2024. He described the experience as life-changing, saying, 'Something as powerful as that happens in your life, you don't know how much it changes you.' The case, related to the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of 'Rust,' was thrown out after allegations that authorities withheld evidence.
Discussing his connection to Peanuts, Baldwin said he relates to Charlie Brown's desire for friendship. 'Come on, what man my age doesn’t relate to Charlie Brown?' he joked. However, he expressed a preference for Lucy, stating, 'Lucy is in charge. She’s got it all figured out.'
Baldwin praised Schulz's ability to blend simplicity with depth, noting that the strip's melancholy and moral outlook resonate with him. He keeps a small Snoopy figure in his office as a reminder to maintain 'love, kindness, patience.'
The actor's career has spanned decades, from early roles in 'Working Girl' to iconic performances in '30 Rock' and 'The Departed.' Now focusing on family, he recently appeared with his wife Hilaria and their seven children on the TLC reality series 'The Baldwins.'
