The Traitors Teases 'Big' Twists in Eerie First Look at Series 4

The BBC has released a first look at series 4 of The Traitors, featuring Celebrity Traitors champion Alan Carr issuing a stern warning to the new batch of players. The comedian, who stole hearts as an unlikely yet unbeatable Traitor this autumn, appears in the teaser wearing the infamous green velvet cloak and carrying a lantern as he stalks the dark halls of the Scottish castle.

In the clip, Carr picks up an ominous note that reads: 'Dear new Traitors, look after the place, won’t you? Because you’ll never guess what Claudia’s got planned this time.' He then states, 'It’s big,' hinting at more twists and turns for the 2026 cast. The trailer ends with Carr letting out a sinister cackle, suggesting he knows something about Claudia Winkleman’s plans to challenge the new players.

The fourth civilian series of The Traitors will launch on BBC One on New Year's Day at 8pm, with a fresh group of 22 contestants competing for a potential £120,000 prize. The official spin-off show, Uncloaked, will also return with host Ed Gamble. The BBC has promised 'even more twists, turns, secrets, epic missions, deception, banishments and, of course, murders aplenty.'

Last series saw the Faithfuls emerge victorious, with Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown splitting £94,600 after banishing the lone Traitor, Charlotte Berman. Casting for series 5 is already open, following the programme's astronomical success since its debut in 2022.
