A fan of BBC's The Traitors has turned to artificial intelligence for help in identifying the show's 'secret traitor', and viewers believe the AI's guess is spot on.
The user, known only as @relatable202512, asked ChatGPT: 'Who do you think it [the secret traitor] is?' The AI chatbot responded: 'Purely my own guess (not a spoiler or confirmed): I think the Secret Traitor is Sam.'
ChatGPT explained its reasoning, citing editing clues such as reaction shots that don't align with discussions, and a lack of suspicion that feels 'engineered rather than lucky'. The AI also mentioned 'cloak logic', suggesting the secret traitor needs someone calm, observant, and trusted, which fits Sam's profile.
The chatbot advised viewers to watch for camera focus on Sam when the cloak is mentioned, framing in shadows, and ominous music. It also noted a 'late focus' test, where a contestant is low-key early but gets more screen time before the reveal. ChatGPT said Sam 'feels edited as someone whose story is being delayed, not ignored'.
Other fans agreed, with one saying: 'I've said it's Sam since the very first episode.' Another added: 'I've said Sam or Ellie from the first episode. Can't wait to find out!'
The Traitors continues on BBC One and iPlayer at 8pm on Wednesday, 7 January.
