ITV's 'A Taste for Murder,' a crime drama set on the sun-drenched island of Capri, is rapidly gaining popularity on ITVX. Created by Matt Baker, the mind behind 'Hotel Portofino,' the series premiered in April and has been hailed as an ideal follow-up for fans of 'Death in Paradise.'
Plot and Cast
The story follows DCI Joe Mottram, played by Warren Brown (known for 'Luther'), who relocates to Capri with his daughter Angelica (Beau Gadson) following the sudden death of his wife. While visiting his in-laws, Joe becomes involved with the local police force, navigating both crime and his own grief. The cast also includes Phyllis Logan ('Downton Abbey') as his mother-in-law Elena Da Vinale, Urbano Barberini as her husband Gennaro, and Cristiana Dell'Anna as Police Inspector Lara Sarrancino.
Critical Acclaim
Although a second season has not yet been confirmed, fans have lavished praise on the show. One IMDb reviewer described it as an 'awesome show' with beautiful scenery, great characters, and superb writing, giving it a 10/10 rating. Another viewer highlighted the 'glorious Italian setting' and 'brilliant cast,' calling it a 'deliciously escapist watch.' Phyllis Logan's performance was particularly noted, with one fan stating she 'brought me to the table, the remaining cast kept me until dessert.'
