The ITV thriller A Mother's Son, originally broadcast in 2012, is experiencing a revival in viewership after its recent arrival on Netflix. The two-part drama from Unforgotten creator Chris Lang also gained renewed attention during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown.
The series is set in the fictional seaside community of East Lee in Suffolk. Filming took place in the Suffolk village of Walberswick and nearby Southwold, with locations including beaches and marshland. Local shops were transformed and residents served as extras for the production.
Actress Hermione Norris, who plays mother Rosie, recalled holidaying in Southwold as a child, describing it as having a distinctive feel. Martin Clunes, known for Doc Martin, said the role appealed to him as a return to his day job. The drama follows a family torn apart after the murder of a schoolgirl, as Rosie suspects her son Jamie may be involved.
A Mother's Son is now available to stream on Netflix and ITVX.
