Former EastEnders Star Nick Berry Spotted Looking Unrecognisable in Essex

Former EastEnders and Heartbeat actor Nick Berry, 61, was spotted looking unrecognisable as he ran errands in Essex on Tuesday. The 80s and 90s heartthrob, known for his roles as Simon Wicks and Sergeant Nick Rowan, was seen leaving a Marks & Spencer store dressed casually in a light blue printed T-shirt, jeans, a black jacket, and sunglasses.

Berry, who quit television in 2012 to become a stay-at-home dad, has largely stayed out of the public eye. He made his last TV appearance at the funeral of his on-screen EastEnders mother, Pat Butcher. The father of two sons, Louis (29) and Finley (26), has not acted since then.

Berry rose to fame in 1985 as Simon Wicks in EastEnders, leaving in 1990 for a six-year stint in Heartbeat. He also starred in Harbour Lights and the police drama In Deep. In 1986, he released a single, 'Every Loser Wins', which became the second biggest-selling record in the UK that year.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2011, Berry explained his decision to step away from acting: 'I chose to be a stay-at-home dad and have loved it... I always said that when the boys were teenagers I could go back, but the longer you don't do something the harder it is to do it.' He added that he was never comfortable in the spotlight, saying, 'I was never that comfortable in the spotlight. Some of the egos you can do without.'
