Round the Twist coming to ITVX next month for nostalgic binge

Australian children's classic Round the Twist will land on ITVX on September 17, giving audiences the chance to binge all four seasons of the beloved series. The show, which originally aired in 1990 and wrapped up in 2001 after a decade on screen, follows the Twist family after they move into a haunted lighthouse in the seaside town of Port Niranda.

A decade of fantastical adventures

The weird and wacky series, known for its earworm theme tune performed by Linda Twist actress Tamsin West, featured fantastical stories involving dragons, Cabbage Patch babies, and a pair of magical underpants. The show was created by English-born Australian author Paul Jennings, Patricia Edgar, and Esben Storm, with some episodes based on Jennings' short stories from his books, including Uncanny!, Unreal!, Unbelievable!, and Quirky Tails.

There was also the ongoing threat from local real-estate agent Harold Gribble, who tried to force the Twists out of their lighthouse home and turn it into a tourist attraction. Given that the show ran for a decade, the Twists and other characters were recast twice. The original cast consisted of Richard Moir as dad Tony Twist, Sam Vandenberg as Pete Twist, Tamsin West as Linda Twist, and Rodney McLennan as Bronson Twist.
