Cheryl is reportedly set to make a major TV comeback by joining the judging panel of The Voice UK, a decade after her last stint on The X Factor. The Girls Aloud star, 43, has been away from the spotlight since welcoming her son Bear in 2017 with late ex Liam Payne, but is said to feel 'ready to re-enter the spotlight'.
Return to ITV after 10 years
According to reports, the Fight For This Love singer will join her friend will.i.am on the panel when filming kicks off in the next few weeks, while Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon have reportedly been tapped to host. If confirmed, the move would mark Cheryl's return to ITV following her exit from The X Factor in 2015.
Cheryl first joined The X Factor in 2008, replacing Sharon Osbourne, and quickly became a fan favourite. In 2011, she briefly switched to the US version of the show but left after just a few weeks of filming. Four years later, she made a return to the UK series, where she remained for two years.
Talks in final stages
An insider claimed producers have asked Cheryl to join the show every year, but the timing has never been right. "This year it's different. She feels ready to re-enter the spotlight and talks are now in the final stages," they said. "Things could come crashing down but with three weeks to go until filming kicks off, the production team is working on the assumption she will be doing it."
The insider added: "It helps that long-term friend Will.i.am will be beside her on the panel."
Show history and recent changes
The Voice UK, where coaches turn their chairs if they want to pick a singer for their team, has aired on ITV since switching from BBC One in 2016. The 14th season begins this evening - it was recorded in 2024 but was rested for 2025. Kelly Rowland joined the panel alongside Will, Sir Tom Jones, and McFly duo Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.
However, just weeks before filming for the next season kicks off, it was confirmed that rapper Aitch joined the panel, while Danny and Tom Fletcher departed. The Mirror has contacted reps for Cheryl and ITV for a comment.
