Roku Expands Free Streaming with Six New Channels in 2026 Content Drive
Roku Adds Six Free Channels in Major 2026 Content Push

Roku has discreetly expanded its free streaming offerings by adding six new channels to The Roku Channel, enhancing its library of over 500 free live channels available to users without subscription fees. This move is part of a significant content push in 2026, aimed at increasing viewer engagement through ad-supported options.

New Channel Lineup and Details

The latest update, which arrived in January 2026, introduces six ad-supported channels spanning various genres. These channels stream continuously in a format that mimics traditional television broadcasting, allowing viewers to watch scheduled content without selecting specific episodes.

Channel Highlights

  • Rawhide (Channel 313): This American Western TV series, which aired from 1959 to 1965 and starred Eric Fleming and Clint Eastwood, will have all eight seasons available on a loop for viewers.
  • Westerns (Channel 6036): Dedicated entirely to classic films and series in the Western genre, this channel provides additional content for fans of the category.
  • The Beverly Hillbillies (Channel 314): The iconic sixties sitcom, which ran for nine seasons in both black-and-white and color, follows the fictional Clampett family as they move to Beverly Hills after striking oil and becoming millionaires.
  • MTV en Español (Channel 978): Targeting Spanish-speaking audiences, this channel features music videos, interviews, and reality shows in Spanish.
  • Ink Master (Channel 624): This long-running tattoo reality show pits tattoo artists against each other in design challenges, offering competitive entertainment.
  • Toso.o (Channel 815): A channel dedicated to comedy clips, providing light-hearted content for viewers.

Strategic Content Expansion

The addition of these six channels is just the latest in Roku's aggressive content strategy for 2026. The platform's ad-based approach focuses on increasing free viewing options to drive higher engagement. Last month, Roku debuted 16 new free channels, and it has also announced a partnership with Amazon Prime to create Howdy, a new subscription service for Prime Video subscribers.

Further expanding its offerings, Roku is set to stream exclusive content such as The Laguna Beach reunion special on April 10, which will reunite stars Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, and Stephen Conrad, 20 years after the teen drama premiered. Additionally, the platform will cover The Masters 2026 and an upcoming Paw Patrol special, following its recent live coverage of NASA's Artemis II mission.

Roku did not respond to requests for comment on the newly available on-demand content, but the platform's continuous updates signal a strong commitment to enhancing its free streaming services in the competitive market.
