Netflix Unveils 'Unnerving' K-Drama 'The East Palace' Blending Historical Drama and Supernatural Thr

Netflix has announced a new K-drama titled 'The East Palace', a supernatural historical thriller set to premiere later this year. The series, which completed filming last summer, is expected to consist of eight episodes, though an exact release date has not yet been confirmed.

The story follows Gu-cheon, a character who moves between the realms of the living and the dead, and Saeng-gang, a court lady guarding a secret. When the king calls on them to unravel the palace's mysteries, they become entangled in a world where power, hidden histories, and restless spirits are bound by a dangerous curse. Gu-cheon investigates unnerving incidents with a blade that can cut down ghosts, while Saeng-gang uses her ability to hear the voices of the dead to aid him.

The cast includes Nam Joo Hyuk as Gu-cheon, known for his roles in 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One' and 'Start-Up'; Roh Yoon Seo as Saeng-gang, who recently appeared in 'The Frog' and 'Love Next Door'; and Cho Seung Woo as the king, recognized for his work in 'Divorce Attorney Shin' and 'Stranger'. The series is written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jea-won, who previously worked on 'Bulgasal: Immortal Souls' and 'The Guest', and directed by Choi Jung-kyu, known for 'The Devil Judge' and 'Children of Nobody'.
