Fans have already binge-watched the entire six-part series 'Free Bert' in one sitting, just hours after its release on Netflix on January 22. The fast-paced comedy, with a total runtime of around two and a half hours, has proven irresistible to viewers.
The series is co-created by and stars comedian Bert Kreischer, known for his shirtless stand-up performances. In 'Free Bert', Kreischer plays a fictionalised version of himself whose daughters are accepted to an elite Beverly Hills private school. His unbridled antics turn his family into outcasts, prompting him to 'put on a shirt' and stifle his true nature to fit in.
Critic reviews have been mixed. One reviewer described the show as 'funny, heartfelt, and chaotic', while The Hollywood Reporter noted it is 'not especially funny' but praised the teenage stars who 'steal the show'. As of writing, the series does not have a registered score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans have taken to social media to share their enthusiasm. One viewer called it 'pure chaotic fun in the best possible way', adding that 'every episode feels like it's building momentum'. Another said, 'I sat and watched it all in one sitting and had that post binge depression when it ended.'
