Netflix Fans Demand Return of Cancelled Shows Including Mindhunter and Kaos

Netflix viewers have taken to Reddit to express their frustration over the cancellation of popular series, with Mindhunter, Kaos, GLOW, Santa Clarita Diet, and The Boroughs among the most requested for revival. The discussion was sparked by the recent cancellation of The Boroughs after just one season.

Mindhunter, a psychological thriller based on a true crime book, aired for two seasons from 2017. Executive producer David Fincher confirmed in 2023 that the show was over, citing high costs and insufficient audience numbers. 'I'm very proud of the first two seasons. But it's a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn't attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment,' Fincher told Forbes.

Kaos, a dark comedy based on Greek mythology starring Jeff Goldblum, was cancelled two months after its August 2024 release. Despite spending four weeks in Netflix's top 10, it failed to achieve high viewership. One Reddit user said: 'I loved how it ended, but they left it just open enough for so much more. SO creative and different.'

GLOW, a comedy-drama about 1980s women's wrestling, was renewed for a fourth season in 2019 but cancelled in October 2020 due to pandemic-related issues. Series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch said: 'COVID has killed actual humans. It’s a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show.'

Santa Clarita Diet, a comedy horror starring Drew Barrymore, was cancelled after three seasons in April 2019, sparking a #SaveSantaClaritaDiet campaign. Creator Victor Fresco said: 'Netflix took a chance on this odd show and for that we will always be grateful. They were supportive, ever positive, and appreciative of our work. Until about noon today.'
