MAFS Bride Gia Fleur Unimpressed by Scott McCristal's Lavish Gold Coast Waterfront Home
During Homestay Week on Monday's episode of Married At First Sight, Scott McCristal's luxurious waterfront apartment left his bride, Gia Fleur, thoroughly unimpressed. New details have now emerged about the sprawling two-level, three-bedroom, two-bathroom property located on Queensland's Gold Coast, after Gia harshly criticised it on the show.
Property Details and Location
Situated in the upscale suburb of Hollywell, approximately 15 kilometres from the CBD, this ultra-modern and chic abode last sold at auction for $1.6 million in December 2025. Scott, aged 32, has not confirmed on the programme whether he owns the property, which is estimated to fetch a rental value of around $1,144 per week on the market.
Nestled within the prestigious Port Meirion Marine Village, the home offers stunning ocean views and high-end features, including herringbone timber floors and an open-plan stone kitchen. Additional amenities comprise a BBQ area, a full-size tennis court, a large swimming pool, and direct access to the Broadwater frontage. The property also boasts a private balcony overlooking the water, a home office, and an alfresco entertainment area.
Gia's Critical Assessment
Despite these luxurious appointments, Gia was quick to voice her dissatisfaction upon entering the businessman's immaculate flat. She unleashed a barrage of criticisms, targeting everything from Scott's decorating choices to his standard of cleanliness, even deeming the massive walk-in wardrobe 'too small' for her needs. Other features like twin stone vanities, double monsoon showers, and a large tub similarly failed to meet her expectations.
The tension escalated when Gia discovered a pink neck pillow in the wardrobe, leading her to question Scott's earlier claim that he had never hosted a woman in his home. She pointedly asked if it belonged to 'his ex' and later referred to it as a 'woman thing', casting doubt on his honesty and sparking deeper issues in their tumultuous relationship.
Fan Reactions and Social Media Backlash
Fans of the show swiftly took to social media to defend Scott and his elegant residence. One Reddit user exclaimed, 'I'd marry Scott to get to live in that house,' while another praised, 'It's amazing and he clearly looks after it.' A third commenter noted, 'To see her instantly trash Scott's place on the ocean was insane behaviour.'
Scott had initially expressed excitement about welcoming Gia to sunny Queensland, but her negative attitude quickly dampened the mood. In a confessional, Gia admitted, 'I'd be lying if I didn't say I was coming in looking for a problem or something to have a problem about - that's just what women do.' Reflecting on the situation, Scott told producers, 'If the roles were reversed and I was at Gia's house, I would only say nice things - end of story.'
The drama surrounding the neck pillow, which Scott explained was a gift from friends, highlighted underlying tensions in their pairing. Gia urged him to consider her perspective, stating, 'Put yourself in my shoes to see how it might look, as an outsider coming into your home. You have said you've never had a woman in your place, and you have a woman's thing (item). From my point of view, it looked a certain way.'
