Love Your Weekend Guests Reveal Boozy Behind-the-Scenes Antics on ITV Show

Two prominent guests from the ITV programme Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh have candidly disclosed the surprising and alcohol-heavy happenings that occur away from the cameras on the popular show. Filmed in a rustic barn located in the picturesque Hampshire countryside, the series features the beloved gardener Alan Titchmarsh celebrating British country living with a weekly lineup of celebrity guests, including Strictly Come Dancing star Sarah Hadland and comedian Tom Allen.

Shocking Revelations of Alcohol Consumption

During a joint appearance on the podcast Pottering with Tom Allen, both stars recounted their individual experiences on the programme, revealing that they were offered generous amounts of alcohol while off-camera. Sarah Hadland expressed her fondness for the host, stating, "I quite like Alan Titchmarsh," which prompted Tom Allen to inquire about her appearances on his ITV show.

Confirming she had featured twice, Sarah added, "I love it." Tom Allen then went on to disclose, "You go to this barn near Guilford and get p****d." Reflecting on her own experience, Sarah recalled drinking "a lot of rum" during her time on the show. Tom Allen further emphasised, "Yeah, they get you really smashed."

Praise for Alan Titchmarsh and the Show's Atmosphere

Despite the boozy revelations, both guests had nothing but praise for the much-loved host. Sarah described Alan Titchmarsh as "lovely [and] very personable," with Tom Allen agreeing, "Very personable. And the people who own the barn [were] very nice." Discussing a surprising off-camera moment, Sarah recalled getting ready in the owner's daughter's bedroom, to which Tom confessed he had done the same, adding humorously, "I think she moved out a long time ago." Sarah laughed, noting, "Her eyeliner is magnificent. The whole feel of it is very chilled."

Controversy Over Garden Renovation on Love Your Garden

Alan Titchmarsh remains a firm favourite on ITV, with his other show, Love Your Garden, also proving a massive hit among viewers. However, during a recently aired repeated episode, some viewers claimed he and his team "ruined" a garden belonging to couple Rob and Margaret Isdale. In the 2019 renovation featured in the episode, Titchmarsh converted their shed into a mock Tudor-inspired structure and incorporated several crumbling brick "columns."

While many took to social media to applaud the transformation, one viewer criticised it for having too many "bricks and concrete," and another described it as "too crowded." Despite this, Rob Isdale was full of admiration for the team's hard work, insisting they did "a brilliant job." He exclusively told us, "Alan Titchmarsh was great. He came and interviewed us part way through while we were out in the caravan site [as the transformation took place]. Yeah, no complaints at all."

Updates on the Renovated Garden

Rob went on to reveal that while they still cherish their garden, he has made a handful of small changes over the years. He explained, "The shed, that's now my art studio, I took up painting so I sit in there and do my painting. It is the same, the only thing we took down was a tree that was in front of our kitchen window that was blocking out the view a bit and the light."

Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh continues to air, with episodes broadcast today at 9.30am on ITV and ITVX, offering viewers a glimpse into the relaxed and sometimes surprising world of British country living.
