Two Love Island contestants have been compelled to exit the villa after the series' first public vote. ITV audiences discovered that Ellie and Lorenzo emerged as the most beloved female and male islanders on June 24. However, the freshly-appointed villa darlings were immediately given the brutal responsibility of eliminating two participants from those who garnered the weakest public backing.
The At-Risk Islanders
The at-risk Islanders included Simba, Tommy, Aidan, Priya, Lola, and Tina. Recognising that their decision would dramatically alter villa dynamics, Ellie and Lorenzo were seen weighing their alternatives at Thursday's (June 25) episode opening. Discussing Simba, Ellie remarked: "He's proven himself to her [Angelista] and she really, really likes him." Meanwhile, Lorenzo pondered Tommy's prospects, observing: "He is quite impulsive, but I don't think he has been calculated, I think he's just being instinctive," reports OK!.
Who Left Love Island Tonight?
Following careful consideration, Ellie and Lorenzo eventually decided to eliminate Tommy and Tina. Bombshell Tommy had pursued multiple romantic avenues within the villa but struggled to discover 'The One'. While he may have forged friendships during his stay, he couldn't secure sufficient public support to remain in the contest. Meanwhile, newcomer Tina had been romantically linked with Aidan, who also featured in the bottom six. The pair's departures left fellow islanders visibly distraught, with Lorenzo becoming tearful while bidding Tommy farewell.
Viewers have flocked to X, previously known as Twitter, to voice their opinions on the double eviction, with many concurring that Ellie and Lorenzo opted for the 'cop out' choice. One wrote: "Sorry but it's not right that islanders get to pick who goes, always ends up being the people there longest that get saved. Leave it to the public vote #loveislanduk." Another added their two cents, stating: "Cop out what else did we expect #loveisland." Meanwhile, a third fan expressed their disappointment: "Nah I'm sad about Tina. What a BADDIE. I hope she comes back for all stars, gorgeous gorgeous girl #loveisland #loveislanduk."
Previous Departures
This series has already seen a slew of surprising departures, including a voluntary exit from newcomer George Knight. The professional footballer, aged 28, was in the villa for a mere six days before he left the show citing private 'family reasons'. Love Island continues on ITV2 and ITVX tomorrow night at 9pm.
