Netflix fans in the UK and Ireland have been left devastated after the streaming giant confirmed that the beloved sitcom Friends will be removed from its library on December 30. The show, which has been a staple on Netflix for almost eight years, will no longer be available to stream from that date.
Friends, which originally aired from 1994 to 2004, starred David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc, and the late Matthew Perry. The series followed the lives of six friends living in Manhattan and became one of the most popular and acclaimed sitcoms of all time, winning numerous awards during its original run.
Fans of the show have expressed their disappointment on social media, with one Reddit user, Worried_Bear9012, saying: 'No! I listen to Friends every night to help me fall asleep. I’ve watched it so many times now, I can picture the scenes in my head as I listen.'
The show has been broadcast repeatedly on E4 and Comedy Central in the UK for years, and Netflix acquired the streaming rights almost eight years ago. With its removal imminent, viewers are now left to find alternative ways to watch their favourite episodes.
