35 Days: Hen Party Added to ITVX

The latest series of the Welsh crime drama 35 Diwrnod: Parti Plu, which translates as 35 Days: Hen Party, has been added to ITVX. Filmed around Wales, it is the fifth series of the 35 Diwrnod franchise, which first premiered in 2014.

Series Format and Premise

The series is known for its twist: each series begins with a dead body on day 35, then tracks back over the 35 days to reveal what happened and how the person came to be killed. The instalment follows Beth (Gwenllian Higginson) and her husband-to-be Dylan (Geraint Todd), who are planning their wedding.

Writer Fflur Dafydd said on her website: "There will be a body, like every other series of 35. At the beginning of the first episode, we see a veil in the water, and a girl lying face down. We know from the outset that there has been a murder and we work back from there – as we do with every other series of 35. But despite the whodunnit element – I think with this particular series that the characters and their secrets become far more compelling."

Viewer Reactions

The series has been popular with viewers. One person posted on IMDb.com: "Thrilling. Addictive, well written... It's so smart and I hope everyone watches it." Another said: "Great engrossing drama with many twists. It was a great change from the usual detective story - by showing the murder victim die to begin with, then working up to it over the previous 35 days."

A third viewer added: "Be ready for almost every character to have a definite dark and deceitful core." Another impressed viewer noted: "The premise is fun - you know the end right from the start, and subsequent episodes unravel the who and why. Red herrings, unexpected twists, and lots of unreal drama make these seasons a lot of fun to watch."
