William and Kate 'extremely cautious' as Sussexes return to UK

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet, but attention has turned to Prince William and Princess Kate's reaction to their arrival. Royal commentator Nick Ede says the Prince and Princess of Wales are likely to be extremely cautious as they seek to protect their family from further speculation surrounding the fractured relationship between the brothers.

Sussexes' UK Return

Harry and Meghan landed at Birmingham Airport. Nick Ede, a former friend of the Duchess of Sussex and brand expert, said William and Catherine are likely to carefully manage any interaction with the Sussexes.

Speaking about Harry and Meghan's return with Cafe Casino, Nick said: "William and Catherine are likely to be extremely cautious. They will want to protect the stability of their own family and avoid being drawn into another cycle of speculation, private conversations becoming public and every interaction being analysed."

Mediator Role Ruled Out

Nick also says Catherine should not be expected to play the role of mediator between the brothers. "Catherine has often appeared to be a calming influence, but it would be unfair to expect her to act as the person responsible for repairing the relationship between the brothers."

However, in a surprising U-turn the presenter suggested we could see the "Fab Four" finally reunite. "I wouldn't rule out seeing the four of them together eventually, particularly at a major family or royal occasion, but a genuine 'Fab Four' reunion feels some way off. That phrase belongs to a very different chapter in their lives."

Brothers Estranged

William and Harry are currently not on speaking terms. The brothers have been estranged for several years following Harry's departure from official royal duties in 2020. The rift deeply intensified after Harry and Meghan aired private family grievances through high-profile interviews, a Netflix documentary series, and Harry's 2023 tell-all memoir, Spare.
