Prince William and Princess Catherine are said to have made their final decision on Prince George's next school, though the decision has not yet been publicly confirmed. The couple are gearing up for their eldest son to leave Lambrook School, the school he has attended alongside his siblings since their move to Windsor in 2022. Lambrook School, located a short distance from their home, Forest Lodge, caters for children up to the age of 13, which is the age George will be celebrating next month. The young royal will then join a new school from this September.
Although his next school has not yet been revealed, the Daily Mail's diary editor Richard Eden shared in his latest article that he has been told by insiders that Catherine and William have decided on Eton College for George, with three major factors behind their decision.
As well as Eton, it has previously been reported that the couple were also considering Marlborough College, which is where Catherine attended, as well as £62,000-per-year Oundle and St Edward's Oxford. The idea that Oundle and St Edward's Oxford, known as Teddies, are mixed is one major factor that has reportedly led the couple to choose Eton.
The insider said: 'We're in the smartphone era. Any picture of George with a girl could be around the world in a moment, however innocent the kiss might be.' Two other factors, according to the friend, are 'security and proximity to home'.
Eton has hosted a host of well-known figures, including Princes William and Harry. The family's home, where Catherine and William live with George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, is also just six miles from the prestigious school. Prince George is set to turn 13 on July 22.
