Strictly Come Dancing star Aston Merrygold has paid tribute to his beloved mother-in-law, Carole, following her sudden death. The JLS singer shared a heartfelt message on Instagram alongside a selection of family photos.
Aston's Emotional Tribute
In his caption, Aston wrote: "Thank you, Carole. I still can't believe this, but thank you… For all the love you showed me from the very first day I nervously met you… For accepting me into your family with open arms and an amazing smile (you didn't stop showing at the wedding.. and rightly so)..."
He continued: "For being the most loving, thoughtful, and HAPPY nanny to Grayson, Macaulay, and Riley... For being an incredible mother-in-law and all the memories, yes, I'll share with our family, but also the ones we'll share. You're telling me at Sarah's 30th after a few Tia Marias, you can't wait for me to marry your daughter (I did s**t myself a bit), [and] helping me plan the perfect move-in for Sar and packing up the car with an inch of space."
Final Words to Carole
Aston concluded: "We all absolutely adore you and we always will… It won't ever be the same going over that bridge, but every time I do, I'll be looking out for the little rainbow and also give a wave to Nanny's house. Until we get to have Nanny's biscuits and a tea again…The mother of my bride, our super Nanny, we love you and will always miss you."
Sarah's Heartbreaking Announcement
Aston's post came hours after his wife, Sarah, confirmed Carole's passing on Instagram. "I can't believe I'm writing this, but on Tuesday, my lovely Mama grew her wings," she told her followers. "It all happened so suddenly, and my heart is completely broken. She was surrounded by her family, and I just hope she felt all the love that filled that room. We love you so, so much, Mum."
Sarah added: "Thank you for being the best mum and nanny we could ever ask for. There is now a huge hole in our hearts and in our lives that can never be replaced. You truly were one in a million. We have had so many messages from people telling us what a kind, caring and lovely lady you were, and how greatly you will be missed. And they couldn't be more right. You touched so many lives, and it means more than I can put into words to hear how loved you were by so many."
She continued: "I would do absolutely anything for just a little more time with you — even just one more day. There are so many things I wish I could say, so many things I wish I could do, and I just wish we had more time. I love you with all my heart, Mama, and I always, always will. Thank you for everything. Thank you for loving us, for being you, and for giving us a lifetime of memories that I will carry with me forever."
