The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have reportedly expressed concern over whether it would be the right time for their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, to get engaged. The 22-year-old has been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Felix da Silva-Clamp, for some time.
The pair both started at the University of St Andrews in 2022, with rumours swirling of a blossoming relationship soon after. The couple are known to have kept a low profile for some time, but Felix joined his girlfriend and her parents on a theatre visit in August. The couple have also been seen at carriage-driving trials and at their graduation, with their relationship thought to now be very serious.
Serious talk about the future
Speaking to New Idea, an insider said that the couple are even talking "very seriously" about the future, including buying a house and having children. They said: "Louise and Felix are very serious about their relationship and talking about their future together, from having kids to buying a house."
They also added that Sophie and Edward, although fond of Felix, are "genuinely worried" about their daughter, concerned if they were "too young".
Parents at odds
The insider added: "Getting married is a stepping stone, but for a career woman like Sophie, she’s genuinely worried they are both way too young. Edward thinks she should stay out of it, pointing out the virtues of not accumulating an extensive romantic past, only to have it come back and humiliate them like it has for him with some of his exes."
Previously speaking about the couple, a source said that Lady Louise was keen to keep her relationship under wraps until she graduated, which took place this summer. "This isn’t just some university romance," one source recently told the publication. "Louise and Felix are in a love bubble and can’t imagine life without each other. But all talk of an official engagement was hushed up until after they graduate."
Sophie and Edward married in 1999 and also have an 18-year-old son, James, Earl of Wessex.
