Should King Charles Let Harry and Meghan Stay at a Royal Residence?

King Charles has reportedly offered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a royal residence to stay in during their upcoming visit to the UK next month. The couple, who stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, are scheduled to travel to Britain for the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

Details of the Visit

Harry and Meghan will be joined by their two children, Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, aged five. This marks the first time the entire family will be in the UK together since June 2022, when they attended the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. Meghan has not been to the UK since September 2022, when she and Harry attended the Queen's funeral.

The children are said to have met King Charles during their previous visit, with Lilibet meeting her grandfather for the first time. However, the family did not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the late monarch's final Trooping the Colour.

Security Concerns and Past Declines

It remains unclear if the couple have accepted the King's offer, and whether the Sussexes will receive police protection during their stay. Harry has previously declined offers to stay at Buckingham Palace due to security concerns over using such a high-profile, visible building.

The specific royal residence offered to the family has not been disclosed. Harry last met his father during a solo visit to the UK in September 2025, and it is currently unknown if the King will see the family next month.
