Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have been turned away from Annabel's, one of London's most exclusive private members' clubs, following the ongoing scandal surrounding their association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Staff at the Mayfair venue have reportedly been instructed not to admit the former royal couple.
The pair were never official members of the £3,750-a-year club but enjoyed a privileged arrangement allowing them entry. However, a source told the Daily Mail: 'Sarah and Andrew at this point would be turned away. Their type of notoriety is not what the club needs.' The ban also extends to four other sister venues owned by the Birley Group, including Mark's Club and Harry's Bar.
The situation could prove awkward for Andrew and Ferguson's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who are members of Annabel's. Members are permitted to sign in guests, but the source noted that the parents' shunning could create tension. Princess Eugenie celebrated her birthday at the club in 2023, with Ferguson among the guests.
Andrew and Ferguson have both denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. The ban comes amid a wider stripping of honours, with Andrew reportedly losing his Freedom of the City of London, an ancient privilege that allows recipients to drive sheep across Tower Bridge and carry a ceremonial sword.
