Sarah Ferguson may have an "ulterior motive" behind rumours of a bombshell tell-all memoir, according to royal historian Andrew Lownie. Speculation has circulated about the former Duchess of York publishing her side of the story after she was stripped of her titles last year due to her links to a convicted paedophile.
Low profile since losing titles
Ms Ferguson has kept a low profile since then, with her whereabouts unknown, although reports claimed she was spotted in Switzerland. Earlier this week, sources close to her dismissed claims that she would write a memoir, saying she has "no plans" to do so.
Historian's claim of hidden motive
Mr Lownie told the Mirror: "She has been touting a book for months, but I'm not convinced she will do it. She will not want to endanger the future of her children."
He added: "My instinct she has leaked the story as part of a negotiation with the Royal Family to take care of her. Let us see which publisher confirms the deal – if any."
No publisher discussions
Sources previously told the Daily Express: "She is not in discussion with any publisher regarding this, and she is completely unaware of any multi-million dollar book deal."
Ms Ferguson has already published two memoirs: My Story in 1996 and Finding Sarah in 2011.
