Royal photographer Samir Hussein has revealed his top three images of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, capturing moments from their engagement announcement to their tour of Australia. Hussein, who has followed the couple extensively, described the photos as showing their genuine bond and natural affinity with people.
His favourite image was taken on Bondi Beach in Sydney during the royal tour of Australia. The couple, barefoot and wearing floral garlands, were discussing mental health with campaigners when they turned and smiled at each other. Hussein told Insider: 'This had all the ingredients for a very unusual royal photo, which showed their bond in a totally informal, relaxed and stunning setting.'
Another standout photo was taken at Kensington Palace in November 2017, shortly after Harry and Meghan announced their engagement. Meghan proudly displayed her engagement ring, which included diamonds from Princess Diana's collection. Hussein captured their 'huge grins and with it the happiness and excitement they were feeling.' The image was used by publications worldwide and featured on the cover of Vanity Fair.
The third favourite was taken in Dubbo, New South Wales, after the couple had announced they were expecting their first child. Meghan is seen hugging a young boy who presented her with a bouquet, her eyes closed in the embrace, while Harry stoops beside her, laughing. Hussein recalled: 'The photo is pure joy and a wonderfully spontaneous moment that captured Harry and Meghan's natural affinity with children.'
Since becoming parents to Archie Harrison on May 6, Harry and Meghan have sought to keep their son out of the public eye. The couple is set to travel to southern Africa with Archie in autumn.
