Meghan Markle is celebrating her 44th birthday today, with royal experts suggesting that while Prince Harry will make a fuss, the rest of the Royal Family is unlikely to send public messages.
The Duchess of Sussex has been focusing on her lifestyle brand, As Ever, with a new batch of rosé wine going on sale this week. Her birthday comes amid a continued rift with the Royal Family following Harry and Meghan's departure from royal duties.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror: 'I definitely thought that being 44 was a bit of a nondescript birthday, not particularly worthy of a special celebration. But I’m sure that Harry will want to make a fuss of his wife on her special day.'
Bond speculated that Harry might organise a romantic dinner or a beach party with friends and children. However, she added: 'I don’t think Meghan should hold her breath for birthday messages from the Royal family, though it may well be that Princess Eugenie - and possibly Beatrice - will send a present or a card.'
Meghan has been relatively quiet on Instagram recently but continues to post updates for As Ever. She previously described returning to social media as liberating, saying she can share things 'on her own terms'.
Bond noted that despite criticism, Meghan has built a substantial following, and her products and shows have performed well. 'I think Meghan deserves to be pretty happy with how this year has gone so far,' she added.
