King Charles and Queen Camilla's Christmas Card Features 20th Anniversary Portrait
Royal Christmas Card Features 20th Anniversary Portrait

King Charles III and Queen Camilla have revealed their official Christmas card for 2025, selecting a special photograph taken to mark their 20th wedding anniversary.

A Milestone Portrait for a Festive Greeting

The chosen image shows the couple standing together in the gardens of Villa Wolkonsky, the British ambassador's residence in Rome. The photograph, taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson, captures the Queen linking her arm through the King's. It was taken earlier this year during their state visit to Italy, which coincided with their 20th wedding anniversary on April 9, 2025.

The card frames the portrait with a dark red border, with a matching printed message inside that reads: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year”. For the occasion, Camilla wore a white and beige coat dress by designer Anna Valentine, accessorised with a lily of the valley brooch. The King opted for a blue pinstripe suit, grey tie, and a silk handkerchief.

Hundreds of Cards and Festive Family Plans

As is tradition, hundreds of these Christmas cards will be dispatched to family members, friends, world leaders, diplomats, charities, and various organisations. The royal couple have maintained a busy schedule over the past year, including trips to Canada, an audience with the Pope at the Vatican, and hosting three incoming state visits at Windsor Castle.

This festive season, King Charles is preparing to host the wider royal family at Sandringham in Norfolk on Christmas Day. Last year, the Prince of Wales mentioned he would be spending the day with 45 members of his family "all in one room". However, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson are not expected to attend, following the Duke's removal from royal duties and titles due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

Traditional Celebrations and a Message of Thanks

The royal family's Christmas Day typically involves a walk to church, a traditional turkey roast with all the trimmings, and gathering to watch the King's Christmas broadcast. In his address last year, Charles paid a heartfelt tribute to the "selfless" doctors and nurses who supported him and the Princess of Wales during their cancer treatments.

Despite the King continuing his own treatment, he and the Queen have undertaken a significant number of engagements. The three state visits hosted this year—for France, the United States, and Germany—marked the first time in nearly 40 years the UK has welcomed three such visits in a single year.
