BBC star Rav Wilding has been flooded with support after sharing the death of his mum. Best known for hosting Crimewatch and appearing as a scam expert on Morning Live, the former police officer is a familiar face on TV screens. He recently shared that his mum, Pam, died on August 9 aged 80.
Funeral details shared on Instagram
The 48-year-old often updates fans on his life off-screen via social media. He recently opened up about the heartbreaking loss in a post on Instagram, which included details of the funeral that took place on Thursday, August 27.
The post said: "Today we said a proper farewell to my mother. A funeral of a parent is a day no son or daughter would ever want to have, but we gave her the best send off that we could and tried to do everything she would have wanted."
"Thanks for all the messages. Rest in peace now mum [red love heart emoji]."
Colleagues and fans send love
Fans rushed to the comments on Instagram to send their support. Rav's Morning Live co-star Helen Skelton said: "Sending love x."
TV chef Briony May Williams said: "Sending you so much love Rav xx." Olympian Greg Rutherford wrote: "Sending love mate" and former Strictly Come Dancing star Michelle Tsiakkas added: "Sending you love".
Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley said: "I’m so very sorry lovely. You're all in my prayers."
Career and background
Rav is best known for hosting BBC show Crimewatch for eight years. He also hosted Scam Interceptors, and regularly appears on segments on the daytime TV show Morning Live.
Before his television career, Rav served in the British Army before an injury ended his service. In 2000, he joined the Metropolitan Police Service where he worked as a detective constable in London.
Morning Live has had time off-air over the summer, but it is usually fronted by Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton. Other stars regularly appear on the programme including Kym Marsh, Janette Manrara, Greg Rutherford, Louise Minchin and Michelle Ackerley. Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One and iPlayer.
