Queen Mary and King Frederik of Denmark enjoyed a romantic walk on the second day of their summer tour, exchanging loving looks as they explored the scenic Voderup Klint on the south coast of Ærø. The area is part of the UNESCO-designated South Funen Archipelago Geopark.
The royal couple received a warm welcome from locals at Marstal Harbor, where they arrived on the Royal Ship Dannebrog. Queen Mary, elegantly dressed in a white shirt and camel maxi skirt by Joseph, accessorised with a straw hat, trainers, and delicate gold jewellery. King Frederik wore a grey suit with a white shirt and rust-coloured tie.
The four-day tour is the first of their reign, which began in January. Their four children—Crown Prince Christian, 18, Princess Isabella, 17, and 13-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine—did not join them. The youngest three are set to return to school this month.
During their coastal walk, Queen Mary added a floral chain to her hat and was given a bouquet of brightly coloured flowers by well-wishers. One youngster excitedly high-fived the Queen. Earlier in the day, she wore blue pearl-embellished slingbacks by Jimmy Choo.
Later, the couple hosted a reception buffet aboard the Dannebrog for guests from Ærø Municipality. Queen Mary changed into a black embroidered dress by Etro, accessorised with turquoise earrings, while King Frederik wore a charcoal grey suit with a dark patterned tie.
