The Princess of Wales hosted a tea party at Windsor Castle last week for people who had completed the Three Peaks Challenge, as she did, and many royal fans missed a key detail about the event.
Catherine spoke to the participants and their families about their experience and the reasons they wanted to take on the challenge. Photographs and video of the afternoon were later shared online, showing how special the occasion was.
The detail fans missed
While royal fans noticed how happy everyone looked, they missed that the tea party used a special tea set sold by the Royal Collection Trust Shop, the organisation that contributes to the care and conservation of the Royal Collection.
The cup and saucer used were the Chelsea Porcelain teacup and saucer, along with a matching jug. The set sells online for £50.
Royal use of Royal Collection goods
The fact that the set was used suggests the royals use the same goods sold by the Royal Collection Trust. As Windsor Castle is one of King Charles’ homes, it also suggests he may have given permission for the crockery to be used at the event.

After the tea party, Catherine shared a message on Instagram, writing: “It was a pleasure to welcome other Three Peaks Challenge participants and their families to Windsor Castle.
“Behind every summit was a personal story of resilience, determination and hope.
“Listening to their experiences of the challenge and their reasons for taking it on was a powerful reminder that recovery is rarely a journey we make alone, and of the importance of the people who walk alongside us along the way. C.”
