According to The Telegraph, Kensington Palace never disclosed whether the Waleses were invited to the wedding, only confirming that William and Catherine would be in London that weekend. However, the newspaper now claims that William's appearance on the podcast was the result of a secret rendezvous between the two couples that took place in London a few weeks ago. Although the exact date and location remain unknown, Taylor and Travis were photographed in London on May 7.

In the pre-recorded chat, held a few days after England's first World Cup match against Croatia, Jason Kelce asked William: "What in your mind is a successful World Cup for England?" The future king replied: "I think winning it." When asked if he would "cross the pond" if England made it all the way, he said: "Definitely. If we're in the final." William also joked about his family's lack of football history, saying: "My family haven't got a particularly long history with football. There are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match and at school growing up you can't avoid the football chat, it's everywhere."

A source told Shutter on his Substack: "This was never just about attending a wedding. For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years."
