Princess Catherine is widely praised for her professionalism at royal events, but during the Order of the Garter service in 2019, she was seemingly told off by Queen Camilla after becoming distracted by a fellow attendee.
The pair were joined by European royals, including Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. According to Hello! magazine, Catherine appeared distracted by Queen Máxima, who stood next to her.
Conversation distraction
As reported by the publication, Catherine and Máxima got caught up in conversation, which diverted their attention from the ceremony.
Hello! reported: "The two ladies got caught up in their conversation and almost missed an important part of the procession."
Camilla stepped in and tapped Máxima on the shoulder to remind the pair to face forward as they paraded past. The publication noted that Camilla's quick thinking kept the mishap slightly under the radar, and attention was resumed.
Later incident at the late Queen's funeral
A few years later, at the late Queen's funeral, Camilla was caught on camera issuing a terse two-word command to Princess Kate about her young daughter.
Lip-reading professional Jeremy Freeman claims to have observed Prince George seemingly trying to pinch his sister, prompting Princess Charlotte to yelp and spin around to confront him, apparently exclaiming "ow!".
The moment seemed to draw the ire of Queen Camilla, who looked displeased, gestured at Princess Charlotte, and then whispered to her mum: "Take her." Meghan Markle, standing nearby, appeared to offer a nod and a sympathetic smile at her niece.
